Baron(esse)s in the Scottish Trees

Monday, October 11th, 2010

Our second day in Glasgow, Catie and I spent a long time enjoying Kelvingrove Park with Adriane. We spent most of that time up in one tree, resting on branches, watching the sun come out from behind the clouds, and (in my case) taking photos of two pretty Alaskan girls in what seemed for them to be a very natural and comfortable setting. It was a perfect late afternoon, and none of us wanted to give in to the dipping temperatures and come down. It made me long to read Italo Calvino’s “The Baron in the Trees” all over again.

The social side of Edinburgh

Friday, October 8th, 2010

You may have noticed that the last post filled with photos from my time in Edinburgh was uncharacteristically sans any people (besides Catie’s shadowed form in one image, and a few anonymous Scots on the streets). I decided to group most of the more ‘social’ shots from Edinburgh together this time, and that is what this post is for (along with this Facebook album, if you so prefer)! We had a fantastic time hanging out with friends old and new in Scotland, and Hilary and Phil were extremely gracious hosts and excellent city guides. (More on Adriane and Glasgow to come in later posts, but spoiler she was also fantastic.)
